About Us

daffodil5It gives me great pleasure to introduce our wonderful community primary school to you through our website. I hope that you will enjoy learning more about what we do as you navigate through these pages.

At the heart of our school are our fabulous, friendly pupils. Providing the best possible education for them is our main aim. It is a pleasure to give them the broadest and richest curriculum and the most engaging learning opportunities that we can. Our pupils are very happy at school. They feel safe, valued and listened to. Do take a look at the latest news section and gallery to find out more about their experiences and achievements.

We have an experienced, talented, dedicated and hardworking staff team and a well-informed, effective governing body. They work closely together to continually move the school forward, providing the best for each individual pupil. You should be able to find out more about all of these people here.

We work in enviable surroundings on a deceptively large site. Our classrooms are spacious and well appointed. Outside we have a wild garden, stream, pond, field, wood, outdoor adventure play equipment (including a zip wire) and a heated, outdoor swimming pool. We aim to make the most of our wonderful environment for learning and for fun! I hope the photographs you will find on our website illustrate this – do also read Harry’s guided tour!

Our parent body contributes enormously to our school’s success. Parents and staff work in close partnership for the benefit of each individual pupil. Communication between home and school is strong and there are daily opportunities to share successes, queries, comments or concerns. Parents regularly volunteer their time in a variety of ways. We have a strong PTFA, which not only raises thousands of pounds a year towards enrichment for the pupils, but also organises social events and activities for us all to enjoy. Please find out more on the parents’ page.

Our lovely school nestles in the middle of the beautiful Dartmoor village of Dunsford. As a community school, the children benefit enormously from close links with friends of the school, local businesses and local community groups (such as the Twinning Association or the Cricket Club). Our excellent links with Dunsford Pre-school and Teign School ensure a smooth transition for our pupils between phases. Do click on the community tab to find out more.

I hope you enjoy finding out more about us through our website. If you are a prospective parent, do please get in touch to arrange a visit. A website can’t really do our fantastic school justice! I look forward to meeting you and showing you around.
